Many years ago, had a customer who owned about four 656 tractors. One of them was just giving him a terrible time with milky, crappy fluid in transmission. He changed it way more than on the other ones. He brought it in and I dug into it and found he was missing an o-ring on the return tube coming down from the top of rear cover. This was causing a slight aeration problem all the time. Not enough to make hydraulics act up. There are a couple of different versions of that return system. One uses a hose between upper and lower and other uses a tube all the way. Hoses blow, or get soft, pipes crack and leak. They both return the oil flow from the aux valves right back into the suction tube to hydraulic filter to help prevent cavitation but if they leak above oil level they will cause it.
