You have a Heisler nine speed which adds four more speeds betweent the original 4th and 5th gears. It provides a 7 mph speed for use of a rotary hoe for which I believe it was originally designed. It will also provide an approx. 12 mph 4th for other uses with a significant amount of torque. These are not very common on a H as most are seen on the larger M's. Forward puts the transmission in high range and back puts it into the standard factory gears. It will also overspeed your belly pump and PTO so those shouldn't be used when the Heisler is in high range. My H and M tractors both have Heisler 9-speeds along with a disconnect lever for the belly pump. I think you will enjoy having this feature on your tractor, Hal.
