Well, the left one is trashed. The drain hole was plugged and it must have gotten water in it. There was moist rusty crud up to the hole where the yoke comes out. Every metal braking surface is covered with pits. Two of the three springs were rusted to pieces and the balls are junk. I am going to buy three new springs and throw it back together. It will be good enough to go pulling on Saturday. It is going to take a lot of time and money to make this thing like new again. I am assuming they don't make any of the metal pieces new anymore???
Did M&W make aftermarket brake components? The right hand brake had an M over a W casting mark on it. The left side was different.
I forgot to say that I was in there like 5 years ago to inspect/restore the brakes. I just cleaned everything up and put them back together. They have been fading slowly for the past couple years.
Here are some pictures.
