I pulled a 2-14" & a 2-16" with the family "H" in the 50s and plowed a lot of acres of Iowa black soil, and now again I use the same H to pull a #8 2-16" in our plow days here in Wisconsin.
Set the wheels so that about 1/2" - 1" of space is between the wheel and axle hub and that will do just fine. You might need to adjust the plow hitch a bit to also help in lining things up correctly.
I now live in rolling hills and dished in wheels are almost a guarantee you will have a roll over....sorry DeltaRed. And a Farmall with dished in wheels is butt ugly (there oughta be a law!).
There are no rules about using the swinging drawbar while plowing; it works just fine either way. Guys like me (75) need a little extra room while climbing off the tractor and the swinging drawbar in the center gives me that. It gives me more secure footing if I step on the U drawbar rather on the narrow swinging drawbar. Slipping off the drawbar is not good when you get to be an old fossil.
Plowing is a lot of fun. Make sure you take time to sit and grin while plowing...life is good at that time in your life...at any age.

The General GG was made by the Cleveland Tractor Company (Cletrac) of Cleveland, Ohio. Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
