Thanks everyone! Yes, the high tension lead is less than desirable to say the least, though the tractor runs really nicely in spite of it. Everyone loves that little tractor. When I bought the Farmall H, the family all looked at me with a tolerant "there he goes again" resignation. When the 1947 Farmall M turned up they all just said "typical". When the Farmall A arrived on Saturday, everyone wanted to drive it! They have all driven it further than I have! I have purchased new front tyres, because 5.50-15 Olympic Air Ride cross ply road tyres just should not be on a tractor. New 7/8" core plugs for the manifold will arrive tomorrow. Progress begins.
