When my gramps had the IH dealership in Southern Tier NY, when the 706 & 806 came out, he kept the 706D Demonstrator after the annual Plow Day, and our 'tater farmin' neighbor bought the 806D, with the demo 5 & 6 bottom plows. BTW, Plow Day was a thing of beauty, the greenies came over the hill first, and then the Binders, like Patton's tanks- a 4100 pulling 8, then the 806D with 6, the 706D with 5, and a 504 gasser bringing up the rear with 3- made the greenies look sick LOL. Gramps ran the 5 for one year and swapped it for a 4-16 steerable, it pulled the 5 OK, but he didn't like to work it that hard. That 806D was still pulling those 6-16's the last time I saw it in '77, and had had nothing but regular maintenance, just kept chuggin', still using no oil. When the 1206 came out, one of the 'tater guys bought a pair, pulled 7-16's with them both, and then the heavy four-row 'tater planters that they used to pull with D4 CAT's. He liked to show off pretty good, and always had the pair in formation pulling those 7's. Anytime they weren't working, they were parked side-by-side right out by the highway, right across from his house

Today's Featured Article - The Cletrac General GG and the BF Avery A - A Bit of History - by Mike Ballash. This article is a summary of what I have gathered up from various sources on the Gletrac General GG and the B. F. Avery model A tractors. I am quite sure that most of it is accurate. The General GG was made by the Cleveland Tractor Company (Cletrac) of Cleveland, Ohio. Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
