Absolutely! You want to check/reset valve lash for couple reasons:
- It will never be easier (you've already got the rocker box off).
- Valve clearance WILL change when you remove/replace the head since the new gasket is likely be slightly different thickness than the old one. Also if the machine shop "cleaned up" the head gasket surface it will change the valve lash when reinstalled.
