Bert: There is a lot of confusion about 444 tractors. There was a Louisville assembled 444 tractor that was sold in the US but there was also a British built 444 tractor sold in Britain and Canada from about 1972 to 1977. The US version had a Delco electrical system and a round front axle similar to an Int.504. The British version had a Lucas or Bosch electrical and a square front axle with a power assist steering cylinder on the left side of the tractor. If the serial number has a letter B in it then you have the British version while the letter U indicates US manufacture.The 2 versions of 444 share a common rear end and if Diesel the engine is the same otherwise they are quite different tractors.
