This is taken from my 504 parts manual: Y=12 Gal./minute hydraulic pump. FF=4.5 Gal./minute hydraulic pump. I have a 504 utility that has the same set up. It appears the 12GPM pump is for the power steering and auxiliary hydraulics controls for the loader. The 4.5GPM pump is for the 3 point hitch. According to the parts manual, higher capacity pumps were available. For example if the tractor had a backhoe attachment then it would have a 7GPM pump instead of the 4.5GPM. Is your tractor a 504 International (utility) and does it have a loader as well?
