Hi, my brother has both 454 and older 684 with same shifter as 454. I have used both for many hours. The D-239 is a harder to start engine in the winter and will consume more fuel. The 684 may have a T/A and the 3pt will be a cat II lower links. You can buy insert to make it cat I or change the pins on your 3pt implements. 454 is a better tractor in tight spaces with shorter turning radius. Both engines are very reliable.
