All of your replies have merit. I have a 460 and a 560 gas which I recenty have purchased. Both of these tractors had fouling problem. I went through and did all of the general tune ups and had no success until I cleaned the crankcase breather screen located in the down pipe which attaches to the tappet cover plate on the side of the engine. This screen will build up with oil and dirt. (Its just like the old truck and car engines which only had a cankcase air breather mounted on a value cover. You had to routinely clean them to keep back presser to a minimum so their spark plugs would not fouling out.) It seems there was enough back presser to cause oil to be pushed up past the oil ring and scraper past the compression rings and into the firing camber. Of course this back presser also cause the cylinder walls to be oil soaked and not allowing the rings to seat correctly. Take a look, maybe you have back presser problems. At present both tractor are running great, they idle at 340 rpms and top out at 1960 rpms with no fouling or missing. Hope you find you problem. P.S. Make sure your distributor cap and rotor are not cracked. (On our farms we have many old tractors which have compression problem, and a trick which we use to get low compression cylinders to stop fouling is to increase the spark plug gap about 5 to 10 thousands which creats a hotter spark and not a hotter spark plug thus allowing bad cylinders to fire.)

A copse of wildbreaking silver birch and oak trees surround the top si
