Do you have new plugs?? I think you time the same as any other Magneto, except it rotates counterclockwise. The M is clockwise. There should be a timing pointer for TDC on the front pulley. However, I dont think that is your problem. I have gotten mixed up a couple of times and got the plug wires hooked up wrong. The MD will try to start, but it will backfire and blow the oil out of the air cleaner. Check those plug wires and make sure you have them set up for CC rotation!
