Thought some more about this. I bet you are 180 degrees out of time. It happened to me. The breaker cam only has two lobes and there are 4 cylinders, so there is a 2:1 gear between the lobe shaft and the distributor rotor. Take the distributor cap and the rotor off. Then remove the three screws that hold on the cover, etc over the breaker point chamber. Remove the cover and rotate the rotor shaft 180 degrees, which is a full revolution on the breaker cam shaft. Put it back together and then give it a try to start. I'm betting it will start right up! On my MD, you have to choke it full for starting, even when the weather is warm. By the time it will run without the choke, it's time to switch to diesel. Let me know what you find. Good Luck.
