I was in your shoes about thirty years ago. Trust me. Take the time to remove the tires and rims from the cast wheels. That is the only way you can do even a half assed job of painting your rims and wheels. CIH paint is too expensive? That isn't expensive paint my friend. I have sprayed a lot of it over the years but never again. IF I had to use CIH paint I would for sure use a hardener. I certainly wouldn't use anything any cheaper than CIH paint. The other thing is your own personal safety. I see you have a pretty small enclosure around the tractor which is good from a standpoint of keeping dirt and other contaminants away from your work. Unfortunately it also means that while spraying you are going to be heavily exposed to the paint and fumes. I painted a lot of tractors over the years with just the canister masks with replaceable cartridges. Now I have cancer. Don't know if there is a connection but I wonder. If I were to start painting tractors again it would be with nothing less than a full air supply mask. A little pricey but worth it. Not trying to be critical or a downer just pointing out my own experiences. Good luck and be safe.
