Bring No1 piston near the radiator to TDC on the compression stroke after removing the sparkplug. Hold a thumb over the plug hole while a helper slowly cranks over the engine until you feel pressure. Then drop a long plastic straw on top of the piston and then you watch the straw rise while the helper slowly cranks until the straw quits rising. Then remove the the cap off the distributor and look to see where your rotor is pointing. If the distrbutor hasn't been removed your rotor should be at your No1 plug. It should be in the one o'clock area. Then your plug wires are in this firing order on your cap. Hal 2-1 4-3 As the rotor rotates clockwise.
