well in 2 yrs. time anything can happen, sure sounds like you have a fuel restriction problem going to the carb. you may even have a bit of water in the carb bowl, or a piece of rust floating around to block the jet. have you drained the bowl? have you checked for good gas flow at line before entering carb? you dont need to rebuild the carb to make it run, you need it clean , float set and adjusted properly. i have cleaned so many carbs by just soaking them in cleaner and reassembling with the old parts and even making my own gaskts.in doing this i can spot what needs to be replaced, such as needle and seat or float and so on.
