Thanks for your help. That is good to know. this is so loose I can turn fan pretty easily. I'll hafta check how far I can push it in. I never saw any evidence of overheating. maybe it doesn't need tightened.
this tractor was changed from 6 - 12 v before I bought it, and the lights were never hooked back up and the gauges don't work, so I thought I would see if I could get the gauges to work.
Things kinda went in the toilet fast.
I was surprised to see the alternator belt broken and that's when I saw the belt so loose on the water pump. I think the alternator has something wrong ... it doesn't feel good ... as if something was loose and dragging inside. I pulled the wire going to the switch off the alternator, not realizing that there was a choice of four pins to put it back on... I'm wondering what I'm gonna hafta do to get a new alternator belt on
... and the gauges still don't work :)
