Delta is correct. Switch it in and out like a light switch. As fast as the lever will move is just fine. Use it all the time except coasting down hills (leave it in direct for that. The more you use it the longer it will last. I have one in a 350U that is original and it was used hard. Use it like an automatic trans from TA 5th to direct. Great tool. Adjustment is about every year with your use, but you will find it needs little adjustment. Moving the lever slow, is slipping the TA clutch. Jim
