Don"t like the sound of that!! Seen too many of these get water down the cylinders,usually #3,and then crack the block.Maybe a long shot would be a freeze plug or even a head gasket.Like the guys said,a rain cap is NO sure fire way to keep water out of the engine,water can enter around a muffler seam,or down where the exhaust pipe threads into the manifold,even in rare cases through a burned out hole in the exhaust manifold.Seen them all-let us know just what you find,maybe you will be lucky!!!
