It's been a few years but I think the oil went up thru one of the rocker arm supports that sits on the head and travels thru the assembley. I have had two D282's, one in a 560 and the other in a 706. I ran into that on my 560, could not get oil to the rocker arm assembley and did not know what happened when I had the head off. Asked a real good IH mechanic and the first thing he told me was that I put the gasket on backwards. Bought a new gaket and he marked that hole, I laied it on the block and it fit both ways and I had the first one on wrong.
