if it didn't get down the exhaust it could be head or gasket or possibly a sleeve. I had one basically rust through in the port area and fill a cylinder. Don't get too worried about cracks in the head, almost every one I have seen is cracked between the two center cylinders. The cooling system is not pressurized so small cracks in the combustion area are not necessarily a big deal. If it rusted, cracked through the port, its junk.Pull the head, it should be pretty easy to see where its coming in.
