My brother lives in the Czech republic, he only comes home once or twice a year. He keeps a car here. (honda crv)
He got a quote from the dealer to have the rear brakes done.
$1800!!!!
And that's JUST the rear.
Because of his situation, he wanted to just do it - I had to insist he let me do it.
They were going to do new pads and rotors - and for some reason new calipers.
The only thing he NEEDS are the pads - but to make him happy I'm going to put new rotors on too. Old ones are WELL within spec - and smooth. But whatever.
Even with the unnecesary rotors, I'm still going to save him about $1600. I could even do new calipers and it's still would save him at least 1200
I still can't get over that one.
We called, it was not a typo. They explained that it was a "good idea" to change the calipers while doing the brakes. Guess that depends on who's "ideas" you're talking about.
