Here is a rudimentary on-tractor test: You'll need a working ammeter on the tractor, and a short piece of #10 or so wire. Start the motor and run it at full governed speed. At the regulator, connect one end of the jumper wire to the BAT terminal and the other to the GEN terminal (expect a small spark when you do...) Check the ammeter - if it now shows charge, the generator's working and the regulator is no good. If the ammeter shows 0 or discharge, the generator is the problem. Suggestion: If you replace the generator, spend an extra $35 and replace the regulator at the same time - it will be $ well spent!
