Engine kits (pistons, sleeves, rings, gasket kit) don't cost that much. Particularly for flat top pistons they can be replaced by stepped heads for more power. An exception to that is my Super M with fire craters. I ordered a new kit for it, but the new stepped head pistons have less compression than the fire craters. My machinest/mechanic said the fire crater pistons were ok and cleaned them up. So I am using new sleeves and rings and the old fire craters.
