Is the tractor "the one" that your grandfather or great-grandfather bought new and farmed with all his life, or just one that your great uncle bought used within the last 30 years?
Most guys on this forum are well established like your great uncle was and already have their own land and sheds and plenty of money to spend on their tractors. At age 17 you will have a lot of experiences, expenses and changes coming up in the next ten years of your life: school; girl friends; career; cars and vehicles; apartments; multiple moves; marriage; children; buying a house; etc.
At this stage of your life a tractor can easily become a larger burden and expense than you really want to have. Like a large pet, sometimes they are more than your situation can handle and you have no choice but to give it up again.
Make sure you have an agreement on how you will move it and where you will store the tractor before you put any bid on it. If you have to rent a 10 x 20 foot storage garage it can cost $75 a month or more.
