the crank on our tractors rides between the steering post and the rear gas tank support. there's just enough gap there. if you're standing on the right side of the tractor stick the crank end through first, drop the handle down a little bit, as you rotate to the left. the crank end will be just inside the clutch pedal with plenty of foot room. and it WILL NOT fall off.
