IH 7488 2plus2

My father-in-law has a 7488 and is in the process of retireing. If this unit is as rare as I am led to believe how does one determine its value? Is it a collector piece or just a good unit for the field. This unit has been always shedded and the engine was replaced with a brand new one just last year because of a dropped valve. This is the only tractor I have ever done field work in, I feel pretty priviliged if this is that rare a unit.
