I have a "73 656 diesel that I was using yesterday just fine. Ran great until I shut it off for about 15 minutes to take a break. I attempted to start it again and it sounds like it"s not getting fuel. This has never happened before and this engine has been easy to start for me in the 3 years I"ve owned the tractor.
Glow plugs are working perfectly according to the meter.
Fuel was not run out (slightly less than 1/4 tank according to gauge and verified). Added more fuel.
Engine cranks normally. No signs of electrical problems in starting circuit. Engine just won"t start.
Engine has 5500 hours and like I said was running great just 15 minutes before.
I ran out of light last night before I could start troubleshooting but what I did notice is the fuel stop control button seemed a little "loose". Could this linkage have bound or broke, leaving the pump in stop mode? I"ll check but if anyone has any tips that would be great.
Doesn"t make sense as it was running fine, I shut it down (didn"t stall on it"s own or anything) and now it just won"t start.
