It does get a bit confusing trying to figure out those small Farmalls.
The A and the B were both introduced in 1939, and were basically the same tractor, but the A had the wide front axle, and the B could be had with either the narrow front or the single front, but not a wide front. Looks like it would have been simpler for IH to offer only the A, and then make the wide front optional.
