Lot of difference between a rollover then a mounted or semi mounted Most and again i say most I H plows were based on a three bottom BUT there were a couple that were made as a four bottom and that is what your stuck with as if you try and drop a bottom they will Draft sideways . Just about like a five bottom onland plum sucks but the same plow in a 6-8 bottom is better and pulls easier . If you can handle five in the furrow then you can handle 6 onland just as easy if not easier at the same gear with better ground speed. Like when i first started farming on my own i had a Farmall 450 D and bought a set of 311 's in 3x14 while my buddy had a set of 540in 4x14's semi mounts with a harrow mounted on the plow . Both of us in the same field and me pulling one less bottom i should have walked all over him , not so we were both in third gear and i could not gain on him . One day i hooked to his plow just to see if my 450 had what his had the 540's pulled that much easier that i could pull the 4 bottoms in the same gear at the same depth as i was pulling the three bottom mounted . The 311's took a ride and i found a set of 540's with super chef bottoms where his plow had the Plow Chef bottoms adde a harrow and we cut our disking down to dead furrows and head lands for corn ground. Never went back to a mounted plow after that.
