as far as charging, use about 80 % of r-134 as opposed to r-12. example if the system uses 2 lbs of r-12, 2 lb x .8 = 1.6 lbs of r-134. also, like super h mike said use ester oil. if you cant find the capacity of the system you can ball park it with charging gauges. low side pressure at about 80 degrees f should be around 45 to 48 psi. high side should be around 200 psi (roughly). evac the system with a vaccuum pump for about an hour, then let the vacccuum hold for another hour to see if there is a leak. (vaccuum will drop if leaking) generally about 28 inches of vaccuum is where we pull the system.
