They had the same problems as the conventional IH tractors of that era, a few extra related to the articulating joint and a light front axle.
The advantage was they were manuverable and had terriffic traction with minimal added weight. They were intended to be a high speed, high traction row crop tractor. Many folks who had problems were trying to make them do a heavy tillage tractors work, when they were really not built for that kind of work.
I had a 3788, loved it. Much less engine noise in the cab with that engine way out front and mounted on rubber. No need for front weights with that 466 engine hanging way out in front. With rear and big front fuel tank, fuel capacity was near or over 100 gallons.
