The top end can go for an hour with no engine lube, if it was oily when assembled. The issue is getting oil pressure. the top end is not going to affect the pressure at all. it is fed oil in measured amounts from a cam bearing, and it is not under real pressure, it is pulsed to the upper end. I would put a pump oil can full of engine oil adapted to the oil pressure gallery fitting for the gauge. (rubber hose, little vinyl tube or the like. pump the oilcan till you feel some back pressure on the trigger. It might take two or three cans full. put in the fitting, and start it up. at least you know it has had a breath of oil now. and it should pick up prime . (it does have oil!?) Jim
