Check at the store to be sure it's just the element and not the enclosed can version - not sure why but that's happened to me twice.
I have been using the NAPA 1172 in my 140 for almost 40 years--I have never gotten the can version and I ask for the number, not the application. It's a paper element filter with metal ends and tube. It is made by Wix (like most NAPA filters)--says so on the box, I just looked. I use NAPA Wix filters in everything I own, from BMW to leaf blower (fuel filter).
FRAM 1172 is a Cadillac transmission filter. You demean a fine filter, sir.
