So I think I have found a replacement magneto for my Farmall A. The one a fellow has for sale is off a model H and we are talking on the phone. They're supposed to be the same and interchangeable right? Both have the H4 start to their serial numbers with 7 numbers (and no letter) following.
The one I have here rotates clockwise to trip the impulse. Now I know that "clockwise" can be confusing depending on which end of the mag a person is viewing from. I am saying "clockwise" while looking at the drive plate end of the magneto when off the tractor (or as it would be viewed from the front of the tractor if installed).
This guy says his H magneto turns counterclockwise to trip the impulse (looking from the drive plate end). The IHC magneto manual says clockwise but does not specify from which end of the magneto the view is from.
Anybody clarify once and for all exactly what is what with this puzzle? Maybe it's not a puzzle, maybe I'm the puzzle.
