G'day Rob. Don't often see the term Header used on this board, supposed to be called combines. But we know, combines are used for planting crops, not harvesting them. On the SP's, the first two choices are 711 & 725. Similiar capacity, but 725 has hydostatic drive, shaft monitoring, grain monitor, better cab, hyd. auger fold and larger box. 725 has 358 Nuesse and 711 has 310 Nuesse. Third option is 8-5, smaller capacity, basic cab and fixed speed drum. Early ones powered by 281 petrol and later ones by 310 Nuesse. PTO models are 8-6, 710 and 726. Latter two have vari-speed drum and 726 and later 710 had better self emptying box. All boxes hold about 45 bags. 14' comb on 8-6, 16' on 710 and 18' on 726. Options were available. Depending on acreage (should that be hectarage) I would go for the 711 or 725, 8-5s showing their age a bit now and Air Con. was available on 711 and standard on 725. Check for wear in riddle and shaker bushes, easy and cheap to repair, check if drum variator has been serviced on models so equipped. Regards, Redfan. PS Rob, had plenty of hours on 8-6, 711 and 725. All good reliable, simple Headers, excellent sample in all conditions.

When Push Comes to Shove - by Dave Patterson. When I was a “kid” (still am to a deree) about two I guess, my parents couldn’t find me one day. They were horrified (we lived by the railroad), my mother thought the worst: "He’s been run over by a train, he’s gone forever!" Where did they find me? Perched up on the seat of the tractor. I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
