Thanks guys. It's frustrating not being there to help the my big brother. He is willing but not very mechanical. He knows how to check plugs but probably doesn't know about setting valves, checking the carb or even points. Fortunately, He has some mechanical friends and I sent him the Blue Ribbon service manual. If he can get it tuned and it doesn't cure the problem, I may post again for more advice. BTW, I have a 300U also and like old's tractor, it is very reliable.
