IH only put the D282 glow plug start IH USA built engine in all versions of US 656, Farmall or International. 666 was D312 direct start IH USA diesel. a smaller version of D414/DT466 in line US diesel. It was made in 2 sizes D312 & D360/DT360. German diesel was in 686, gas engine no longer made. It was D310 direct start, also was made in 3 & 4 cyl for smaller tractors. It was made in IH German plant Nuess Germany. IH made the change to German because of production shortfalls at US plant.
