Farmall H Gas Tank

I was investigating the source of contamination (mostly rust) in my 1949 H gas tank. It is an alternate fuel tractor with the small gas tank, kerosene manifold etc. etc. I found that the regular tank has a baffel/ divider about midway back. It appears solid and reduces the main tank capacity by about half. What's the story why was this tank made so small? Anyone want to trade for a regular size tank? Appreciate any info. Dick
