head repairs

the head on my wd9 is cracked across the valve seats on two of the cylinders,has anyone had any experience with getting cracked heads repaired.will the repair hold or am i wasting my time and money on the head. the cost for a repaired head for this tractor is around eight hundred dollars,any opinions as to the wisdom of going this route as trying to find an original uncracked head seems to be impossible or am i better off scrapping the tractor.
