Okay, I now have the wiring hooked correctly on the M. It charges very sporadicly with the needle bouncing around and sometimes charging sometimes not. Made sure I had a good ground for both genny and VR. No change. I then grounded the field post on genny to the case and she charges really good. I guess this means the VR has as issue. It is only a couple of years old but that appears to be where the problem lies.
