Letters SM will be near the top left corner looking at the serial tag the way you would read it on a super M. Serial number and its prefix and sufix letters will be on a different level than the SM or SMD if a diesel. If a S follows the serial number on the same level it may be a super MTA. LP tractors can also have letters.
