Oil seal final drive Super A

The final drives have both been removed because the brakes are bad and the oil seal on the differential shaft between the brake drums and the pinion (that drives the bull gear) is shot. How do I get at the seal? Must I really pull the brake drum off towards the splined end of the shaft? Or should I remove the bearing first and then pull the whole shaft out, including the seal?
Any help wil be greatly appreciated.
