I'm about to order an engine rebuild kit for this run down old 404. We've had it for about 20 years, and it is on it's last leg. The bottom end is tight, no knocks, no rattles, good oil pressure. The number on the block above the distributor, behind the oil filter canister is serial # 375596R1. Unless I find anything broken around the cam, such as springs, etc., I'm just going to put a sleeve kit in it, and rod bearings. Can anyone date this for me? With engine kits running less than $600 due to competition on the internet, now is my chance to revive this old tractor. Thank you in advance for your help. I'm also going to post a question about the governor on the same tractor. Thanx again, Randy D.
