They are certainly somewhat rare for an IHC tractor especially the Farmall row crop model as only a little over 3500 were made. The International Utility model was produced in higher numbers like three times as many. I bought a very nice original Farmall 240 with low hours and very few issues except finish and missing the usual items that are hard to fine. Mine cost $4900 which I am presently restoring. All of the factory installed corks where implements are attached to the tractor were still in place. This was not a tillage tractor and was used in a u-pick apple orchard for very light duty work. They are like most older tractors condition is everything relative to price as I've seen a few of them in the $2000 or slightly less range which might make a good parts tractor at best. Since I wanted one for it's rarity I was satisfied with mine for the price. The bad thing about the 240's is the lack of parts as most everything unique to one is NLA at CaseIH and no reproduction parts unique to a 240 are being produced to my knowledge. When you do find needed parts they are generally quite expensive. The Farmall model is really nothing more then a Super C or 200 in different metal and doesn't have any of the new features common on tractors of the late 1950's like TA or IPTO. Good luck in your acquistion of one if you are looking for one as they are certainly a nice looking and rare at tractor shows, Hal.
