As mentioned in several other posts below, the 2" black pipe is the way to go. To get the threads in better shape than they are now, get TWO pieces of threaded pipe, and work on one of them with a file before threading it into the manifold. Use a flat file to make notches in the threads in about 4 to 6 places around the pipe, then use this piece to clean up the threads before installing the other one (with anti-sieze compound) as the exhaust pipe. To make the notches, DO NOT just use the corner of the file and make "V" grooves! Use the file so it makes a flat place in the threads with the edge leaving a sharp face in the threads like a pipe tap (or any other thread tap) has. Only file these about as deep as the threads, not clear through the pipe. Next weld a big washer or piece of steel plate on the other end, and a BIG nut on it that you can use with a socket and ratchet. As you thread it into the manifold, the notches will allow the rust and scale to escape the threads and be released. Work it back and forth in the manifold to clean the threads. The ratchet on the end of it is a lot easier to reverse than a pipe wrench, and won't deform the pipe when it gets tight. It's a poor excuse for a pipe tap, but in many cases it will clean up the threads enough to use them.
