The 826 will be a little heavier which would be advantageous if you will be round baling in hills. Both are good tractors the 706 had 2 different diesels, the early models had the D282 which was indirect ignition and had glow plugs, a fine engine as long as the glow plugs were used properly and maintained. The preferable later engine used was the D310 which is commonly referred to as the German Diesel, no glow plugs and were very good engines. The 826 had the D358 which also went into the 766,786 and 1420 combine, It had the same basic design as its big brothers the 414,436, and 466. The 826 also will have the newer shifters which are nicer to use than the 06 shifters. Condition and price will be your primary driver along with your personal preference.
