The best answer is that it depends on the temperature, and the type of oil (viscosity). With good bearings and a well clearanced oil pump, using 15-40 diesel grade oil it should stay above 20psi warmed up at idle. If using 10-30 car oil (which is OK) it should be at or above 10psi at idle. using straight 30wt in the summer I would expect that 10 to 15psi at idle warmed up. Most tight Hs and Ms run 75psi when at high idle (wide open). If yours is near zero at idle I would recommend fixing it. If it is less than 30 at full speed warm i would seriously consider fixing it. They will run a very long time with modest oil pressure. 15-40 quality brand diesel grade oil is generally what the people contributing here believe in. (exceptions in belief are common and vocal) oils today are dramatically better than those specified in the manual. Jim
