The fuel probably has some ethanol in it. Water is possible, but the tractor (if it just stalled without sputtering) might be having an electrical issue. If it did sputter and die slowly, it could be carb icing. Especially if it was at or near freezing. Carb icing is pretty common and the humidity in the air freezes in the carb, restricting and flooding it as it seems to choke out. It will restart because the warmth of running melts the ice. Jim
