I just received an early 40 M for christmas. I was looking at the casting codes which are either 12-19-I which is Dec. 19th, 1939, or 1-04-j which is Jan.4th,1940, which is correct. However, the casting code on the left axle housing reads 6-12-G, which should be June 12th, 1937. Anyone have any ideas how a part with a 1937 casting code could end up on a tractor model that wasn"t in production til 2 years after that?
